The boys’ tennis team season came to an end last week. The team  reached the quarterfinals of its sections and winning the conference.

The boys team lost its section quarterfinal game against Hopkins 5-2 while simultaneously putting on a good match according to junior Aaron Goodman.

“Although we lost we gave a decent match in the section game,” Goodman Said.

The boys’ section team was seeded 8th in the section and made it into the quarterfinals. According to Coach Casey Hermanson the section team did incredibly well in the first round of the sections game and was very impressed.

“Every singles player won their first round of sections, which hasn’t happened since as long as I can remember,” Hermanson said.

Hermanson said that despite the loss in their sections game she was pleased with the season and the many players accomplishments.

“Despite having lots of practices cancelled due to weather, we finished strong” Hermanson said.

Although Hermanson ended the season with a positive light Junior Aaron Goodman said overall he was disappointed with the season as a whole.

“It was a disappointing season because we didn’t win conference and in the past years we were on a streak,” Goodman said.

The team had lots of injuries during the season which led to some disappointing results Goodman said.

“We got plagued by injuries which really hurt our chances at conference,” Goodman said.

Hermanson  said that the key to improvement on the team was the integration of Jv with the varsity players and offseason training.

“Making Jv more connected with varsity is always something to practice,” Hermanson said.

Goodman said that the team can gain the most from getting more players to do offseason training.

“We need to get more people to play year round and focus on offseason training,” Goodman said.

The boys tennis team did not do as well as they have in previous years but still put up a good fight during the season.
